We are aware of the impact our business activities of tin mining and smelting have on the environment. As one of the world’s largest refined tin producers, we strive to uphold ourselves to the highest possible standards when managing the impact on our surroundings.
AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT
An air pollution control system ensures that our emissions are filtered and are in compliance with the necessary environmental regulations.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT
Our 1.0MW mini hydro plant located at the tin mines generates 19% of the Group’s total energy needs.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Our scheduled waste management system is in accordance with the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulation 2005 of the Environmental Quality Act (EQA) 1974.
MINE REHABILITATION
We work closely with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for reforestation and mine rehabilitation. To date, we have succesfully rehabilitated 126 hectares of the inactive and mined-out area.
WATER MANAGEMENT
Water discharged from our tin mine processing plants are 100% recycled. We carry out water sampling exercises on pH and heavy metals at the river waters exiting our tin mines.
